Saturation

for large ensemble (2023)

This piece is saturated with symmetrical transformations and while it has a regular pulse, it frequently changes meters. The overall idea of going from a minimum of music material through self-generating processes to a full completeness is realized in several stages, with some internal recapitulations and referential “break points” from the flow.

Program Notes:
“Saturation” was composed in 2023. It is based on a set of trichords, tetrachords, pentachords and hexachords which form aggregates and peculiar set formations. This piece is saturated with symmetrical transformations and while it has a regular pulse, it frequently changes meters. The overall idea of going from a minimum of music material through self-generating processes to a full completeness is realized in several stages, with some internal recapitulations and referential “break points” from the flow. The full chart of all sets and their combinatorial formations are available from the composer.
